Support: Coaches ACCELERATE Your Success

accelerate-success“I know how to lose weight; in fact, I can do that part really well.  So how come I can’t keep it off?”

Almost every client coming into my life has uttered those frustrating words (or similar) during our first moments together.

It’s been my experience these women and men are pretty darn fantastic at so many arenas; however, this one area confounds them.

They are not alone.

Weight loss is a 60 billion dollar industry in the United States.  Numerous people are trying yet another weight loss diet.  The industry is chalk full of amazing promises, such as this BRAND NEW thing is going to be the answer everyone has been waiting for.

Sure, any so called “diet” will work.  Even the new ones.

But that isn’t the important part of the equation, is it?

It’s not what you lose, but what you keep off that really matters.

The only thing that really works is to change our eating habits and move more.

Oh wait, there is more.  And please pay attention because this is really important.

Our minds, even our very essence has to experience a transformation.

Doesn’t it make sense if you could have achieved that glorious place of nirvana; that long term, struggle free maintenance on your own; you would have done it years ago?

I challenge you to ACCELERATE toward that triumphant state of being by hiring a nutritional and life coach.

Why? Let’s look at some key reasons.

Accountability:  It’s confusing how people will seek out and get support during the weight reduction portion of their journey, and yet when it comes to maintenance, opt out.  They achieved their weight loss goal so figure, why do I need any more help and support from anyone?

Why stop what’s working?  Receiving direction and being accountable to someone is an age old custom. Over the centuries they have been called:  mentor, advisor, instructor, coach, teacher, Sherpa, and sensei; just to name a few.

Having a coach during maintenance will help you finally discover the how in successfully staying there.

Clarity:  Goal setting frightens some people.  Just the word goal can produce all kinds of different reactions, most of which elicit a response, such as “I am not a ‘goal’ setting person.”

Bunk.

Just the fact you want to maintain your weight is a goal.

Your coach will help you get clear about what you want to achieve and establish matching goals.

Confidant:  What I find grand about a coach is I can choose to share things I might not share with friends and family.  They are not in “my stuff”, my day to day life, thus I feel confident and comfortable in sharing things they can hone in on and help me move past them. Like the forest for the trees concept.

Embrace:  If you are actively pursuing weight loss, chances are there are aspects of your body in which you haven’t been happy for maybe months, years, or even decades.  This unhappiness can transcend into other areas of your life.  A coach will advocate focusing on taking care of you first and for some, this one thing alone is the missing link.

A coach will build you to see the value in YOU. This will do remarkable things to your mind, body, and spirit, and then consequently your life.

Launch:  Coaching is all about forward progress.  A coach is invested in your success. They will promote formulating plans and systems catapulting you into your next stages of growth.

This can take on many forms.  Most of the time it is about strategizing (or being proactive) in order for you to make it through difficult situations unscathed.  In other words, a coach will boost your confidence to turn obstacles into stepping stones.

Engaging:  A coach takes a personal interest in you and your success.  To do that, a connection is developed; knowing your likes and dislikes, interested in your life beyond the weight, cry with you when sad things happen, cheer with you when your desires and goals are realized, and all points in between.

Feedback, an invaluable piece of the coaching model, is a powerful tool aiding in realizing your intentions.

Recognition:  For most of us who have been overweight, being recognized for what we do well is almost foreign to us.  All too frequently we are bombarded with negative comments or sarcastic remarks.  Sometimes this comes from people who are closest to us.

A coach will recognize and acknowledge your baby steps, point them out, and then celebrate with you.  Baby steps are a pathway to fulfilling your goals and they are just as important, no scratch that; they are much more important than realizing the goal itself.  It takes strength, determination, perseverance, and hutzpah to lose and maintain weight; and you should have someone cheering every step of the way.

Authentic:  “This above all: to thine own self be true.” – Shakespeare

Nuff said.

::giggle::

A coach has spent countless hours, days, weeks, and years working on their personal values and belief systems.  Throughout this same time frame, they have been honing their particular niche of expertise. The result, tied up in a nice little package, is substance, experience, realism, and genuineness.

They will aid you in establishing that authenticity in your own life as well.

They understand your struggles, have been there, done that, and are willing to share how you can do it too.

Transparent:  What does this mean exactly?  When someone is transparent, they have allowed you in to see them as they really are.  After all, coaches are just people too.

No one is perfect and no one is expected to be perfect. Coaches can get cranky at times, pessimistic, even antisocial, or a little weird.  They have fears and struggles too.

But isn’t it reassuring to work with someone who can empathize with you?  Know where you are coming from?

The difference is coaches have been applying coaching model tools on themselves.

Consequently, those low times are minimal and recovery is almost immediate.

They have gained the knowledge, skill, and proficiency to help, impart, and advise.  That is priceless.

Empowerment:  OOOO, my favorite word of all time, I think.  HA!!!

An awesome coach won’t tell you what to do; they will teach YOU how to find the answer.  It’s that whole give a man a fish thing.  Helping you figure it out for yourself is a lesson which will carry you throughout your life.

If you are at the point in life and are finally ready to take care of YOU for a change; you are fed up with yoyo dieting; you are tired and frustrated with going it alone; then hiring a coach is the next step.

If you are truly serious about finally healing your weight struggles, accelerate your success and go here.
