ONE Thing

OneReading a book at the moment, it’s called The ONE Thing.

I was turned on to this book by an online coaching class for business.  Finding out however, that this book is proving to be invaluable for much more than just my business.

My life for example.  ::giggle::

The concept of focusing on ONE thing is not new to me.  In fact, in my 1:1 coaching program, there is a specific day dedicated to achieving laser like focus in regards to our weight loss journey.

Often my clients get questioned from me on choosing ONE thing that they can change today that would make a difference in their week.  Sometimes we are just too spread out in different areas to make the most of today and the impact it can make for the future.

While reading this book, it was impressed upon me how I needed to heed my own advice as spreading myself too thin has been my norm as of late.

I asked myself, what is ONE thing I could do that would make the most difference in the days, weeks and months to come.  The ONE thing, that if I did this, everything else would start to fall into place.

After a discussion with my accountability partner on the subject, I was challenged to get back into something I have oh so missed over the last few years, and that is daily writing in my blog.  I made a commitment to spend at least 30 minutes a day with this practice until it became as natural to me as it once was not so long ago.

Subject matter isn’t important, however, it will be focusing on something I have become very passionate about lately, and that is BALANCE in mind, body and spirit.  After all, the new tagline for Get Your Thin On is Turn On the Power of UnDieting, which can include all sorts of juicy tidbits.

This commitment is now out in the Universe.  Spoken out loud.

Stay tuned, this will be fun!

Question of the Day:

What is ONE thing YOU can do today that would make a difference in your week?

  1. Biz this is really great advice. All too often when we focus on too many things at once we become so overwhelmed we don’t bother with any of them. By listening to you and focusing on one task, just one thing, I have been able to get that one thing done and then move on to the next “one thing” successfully completing many tasks whereby if I had thought about all those tasks at once I would have achieved nothing. As women we are expected to multi task and be very good at it and generally we are but sometimes it helps to give the brain a bit of a break and just focus on one thing at once.

      Thanks Jen! I used to pride myself at the ability to multi-task. In the book he describes how that is actually detrimental to getting anything done. So now I am trying to stay focused on one task at a time. Thanks for the visit and comment!

    Wow – one thing at a time would be huge for me. Right now – one thing would be take STOP at least 1x day and take a short break, breathing deeply. My mind is racing too often and thinking about the next 10 things needing done. Just quieting myself, even if just for a couple of minutes, throughout the day would make a huge difference for me.

      That is a GOOD one Christa. The book seems to emphasize choosing the ONE thing that would help other things fall into place. Taking some quiet time each and every day is monumental. I have an exercise I share with clients at times and I call it “Let’s Get Bored” – it’s HUGE, remind me to tell you about it ok?
