2016 Word of the Year: Breathe

2016 Word of the Year: Breathe

Sigh.

I sigh a lot.

So much so that people I have been around at different times in my life will say, what’s wrong?

I am like, um, nothing.

But you just sighed.

I did not.

Yes, you did.

Ok … so I have this thing — I sigh.  A lot.

I never really attached any meaning to it … just thinking to myself; ok, I guess I must sigh a lot.  So what.

Until I had the opportunity to go to an acupuncturist a few years ago.

While doing the preliminary intake interview, he mentioned to me, do you realize you sigh a lot.

I said, so I have been […]

5 Tips for Getting Through the Holidays

5 Tips for Getting Through the Holidays

Did you know Albert Einstein’s memory was notoriously poor?  It’s been said he wouldn’t even memorize his own phone number.

With a brain used for advancing revolutionary accomplishments in Physics, I choose to believe he was very smart about using his energy for things that mattered to him.

I do that a lot … choose not to remember some things in order to concentrate on more important things. If I don’t compartmentalize certain things, I can go furiously fast from sane to complete overwhelm in a matter of minutes.

The holiday season can do that to people … heck, it can do that […]

Word of the Year ~ 2016

Word of the Year ~ 2016

Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs. ~ Pearl Strachan Hurd

It’s that time of year when we start to think about resolutions.  What we want new and different in the coming year.

This year, instead of a list of resolutions, how about choosing a Word of the Year.

This focus word will serve as a touchstone for all the changes you want to see in the coming months.

Why the shift from resolutions? Because they don’t work.  You know why?  Because they address only one part of your life.  The DO level.

It’s the:

I will DO this thing […]

Alpha-Huh?

Alpha-Huh?

My method is different. I do not rush into actual work. When I get a new idea, I start at once building it up in my imagination, and make improvements and operate the device in my mind. When I have gone so far as to embody everything in my invention, every possible improvement I can think of, and when I see no fault anywhere, I put into concrete form the final product of my brain. ~ Nikola Tesla

Ever hear of Nicola Tesla?

In short, he believed that energy could be passed from one object to another without wires. He proved […]

Baby Steps

Baby Steps

Small daily improvements are the key to staggering long-term results. ~ Unknown

Many people have profoundly expressed the importance of gradual change. Dr. Martin Luther King said in his I Have a Dream speech that people would one day be judged by the content of their character rather than by the color of their skin. That change took years. He didn’t believe in forcing change instantly. He believed in a message that would move people to change.

Lyricist Bob Dylan also understood that lasting change happened gradually. From his song Blowin’ in the Wind, we learned that we may never know how […]

Develop an Attitude of Gratitude

Develop an Attitude of Gratitude

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. ~ Melody Beattie

Another way to describe this thought is in the poem from the 1940 edition of The Rotarian entitled The Optimist:

“Life handed him a lemon,
As Life sometimes will do.
His friends looked on in pity,
Assuming he was through.
They […]

Five Things to Remember About hCG Protocol Phase 3

Five Things to Remember About hCG Protocol Phase 3

Phase 3 (P3) is the critical time period following the hCG Protocol weight loss phase. The idea is to lock in weight loss by creating a stabilizing environment keeping one’s body within two pounds for three weeks thus establishing a new set point.

I want to emphatically emphasize Phase 3 is the most important segment of the protocol.

Seriously!

Too many disregard Phase 3 thinking they are done with eating strictly. However, without diligent careful Phase 3 observance, weight may be quickly re-gained as many return to their old way of eating. P3 is the vital transitional phase not only stabilizing one’s body, […]

Make Decisions From Where You Want to Be!

Make Decisions From Where You Want to Be!

Are you making decisions from where you are, or where you want to be? ~ Christine Kane

Previously, I wrote an article regarding a decision making system. As a quick refresher, here are the steps:

  • Define the challenge
  • Do the research
  • Evaluate the alternatives
  • Make the decision
  • Just do it
  • Review

The quote above aptly describes the guiding thought process behind it. This truly powerful approach helped me change my outlook on life.

In early 2010, while taking a program by Christine Kane, I first became aware of that concept. She spent an entire week on decision making, devoting one whole day to this one thought: make decisions […]
