Support: The Potassium Sodium Connection

Support: The Potassium Sodium Connection

I have been getting a lot of questions lately on why I ask my clients to be aware of potassium when they are in a situation that they KNOW they are going to be ingesting quite a bit of sodium.  With that in mind, let’s look at potassium first, and then how to get potassium from the foods we eat.

Definition of potassium as it relates to the body:

Potassium is a hugely important mineral for the proper function of all cells, tissues and organs in the human body.  It is also an electrolyte, which means it conducts electricity […]

Recipe: Lomi Lomi Salmon

Recipe: Lomi Lomi Salmon

Yum!  This is normally a side dish in Hawaii, and it’s usually made with fresh raw salmon that you salt yourself for a few hours.  However, I needed to have a recipe that would come close for P2, and this does the trick!

Now before you knock my block off, I know that salmon is not a protocol legal food.  However, I have suggested it to members of Boot Camp and my clients over the years without any ill effects.

In fact, the can of Wild Pink Salmon that I often choose (Bumble Bee) has these counts:

60 Calories
1.5g Fat
12g […]

I think if I was forced, I could live on salmon as my only protein for the rest of my life!

But seriously, when you consider all the benefits that salmon can add to your nutritional goals, it pays to take notice and to add it to your diet weekly.

WILD salmon keeps coming up in all sorts of lists as an important food for all aspects of health.  Notice the emphasis on the word WILD – wild-caught fish grow and use their muscles, tissues and fat levels the hard way, fighting for survival of the fittest in oceans […]

Recipe: Kickin Chicken Chili

Recipe: Kickin Chicken Chili

Chili.

There are thousands of recipes for chili on the internet.  When you throw into the mix that it has to be legal for P2, the list gets a little limited.

Chili is like salsa, everybody has a different idea on what it should consist of.  Some like it mild, some like it past hot.  Some like white sauce, some like red.  Some like it full of spice, some not so much.

Chicken Chili is no exception.

This is a very basic recipe that you can expound upon to suit your own tastes.  The one big difference about this recipe is […]

Recipe: Fruity Curry Chicken Salad

Recipe: Fruity Curry Chicken Salad

This is one of my favorite “go-to” recipes.  I usually will always have the ingredients in this recipe on hand and when I can’t find anything else to make, this is an easy choice.

It’s also great as a “to-go” recipe as it travels well in a small cooler.  And if you add it on a bed of lettuce, it can become a complete meal full of protein (bodily fuel for cell and tissue maintenance), fats (for satiation and brain health) and carbs (for energy) without a lot of muss or fuss.

Whoever came up with the idea that curry and […]

hCG Success: Karen and Bill

hCG Success: Karen and Bill

Working one on one with Biz has been extremely helpful.

My husband & I discovered hCG over 2 years ago. You’d think we would be pros by now … but we have found that we benefit greatly from Biz’s experience with hCG and her expert coaching. Without Coach Biz’s help we would have trouble maintaining. She has explained exactly what foods to eat & what to avoid. She was there when we slipped up & encouraged us to stay with it.  I’ve done P3’s on my own, but with her guidance I have learned much more about how to maintain […]

Support: Practice “Pattern Interrupt”!

Support: Practice “Pattern Interrupt”!

It’s been quite a ‘pattern interrupt’, a massive change of the old programming. ~ Kenny Loggins

“Pattern Interrupt” is a term that I was presented with in one of my recent coaching retreats.  It hit me like a ton of bricks.  In the fact finder world I live in, I had to go straight to the internet to discover what this technique meant, and how it could benefit me and my clients in our weight control journeys.

I have been simply amazed at what I have found out.

Pattern Interrupt is as simple as what Kenny Loggins says above: a massive change […]

Recipe: Black Bean Chili

Recipe: Black Bean Chili

Chili.  Yum.

There are all sorts of recipes for chili’s available.  It’s a long standing recipe that people have made their own for decades.

I never liked chili growing up because I never liked kidney beans.  I didn’t realize until much later in life that chili can mean almost anything!

Over the years, I tend to enjoy white chili’s more than red, however, this is one that I always come back to.  But then again, I happen to really love black beans.  ::giggle::

What is totally awesome about chili is that even though it’s not “high fat” on it’s own, you can make it […]
